Does Hypocrisy Stop People From Believing Everything?

Lots of people talk about how the world needs more love and peace but ultimately more love and peace is not seen. Christianity, however, promotes love, peace, and taking care of the poor. But there are many who see problems with the world who refuse Christianity or who don’t believe in God or His son Jesus. And the most popular reason for that unbelief is hypocrisy. People see Christians who don’t personify Christ and all of a sudden the answer to the world’s need of love and peace is stomped out because of a few bad examples.

But I ask this: Does hypocrisy stop you from believing that your favorite celebrity is who they say they are? My point is that many people blame Christians for hypocrisy and use it as an excuse not to live Christ-like, but don’t get mad when they find out their favorite entertainer doesn’t have nearly the amount of money they sing or rap about. Or doesn’t live anywhere close to the lifestyle they portray in the media. Or comes out with a sextape after portraying a life of monogamy with a different partner. None of that stops said people from pursing that lifestyle even after they find out the reality of the lifestyle. There are more examples of this. Anyone who has ever been cheated on eventually realizes that not ALL men/women are cheaters just a few are. Being cheated on doesn’t stop you from finding the love of your life, does it? You attribute a blanket generalization to ALL members of a group when a few misrepresent. If that was the standard there wouldn’t be a positive thing to say about any group of people.

So lets reexamine our motives when we decide to play the hypocrisy card. Besides, even a hypocrite needs forgiveness. When it’s all said and done God will judge the motives (heart) of a person and those can be hidden from people but from not God.
